The Wild Palms emerges as a meeting point for readers and authors, opening as a new space for reflection on the latest trends in prose and poetry. The aim of the programme, as an advocate for new literature, is to ensure participation of the most relevant authors and encourage doors to be opened to writers with few works translated into Spanish, and whose relevance transcends the dawn of novelty or geographical limitation.

The programme is set to host four main activities on a yearly basis. Each will bring together two or three relevant writers of literature in all its forms, with a focus on narrative, but also welcoming essays, poetry and theatre. These authors will be interviewed by a range of representatives from the world of the written word in its broadest sense. Each event will also include an interlude, proposing a dialogue between music and performance poetry, with a view to offering both transversal and novel points of view on the literary work in question. Likewise, the programme also aims to promote LGBTIQ+ awareness, and it welcomes innovative proposals and the latest trends with a cross-border and universal approach.

This first event, included in Festival EÑE, will present the work of storyteller and poet Francisco Ferrer Lerín, a heterodox author who, after having turned his back on literature for decades and working as an ornithologist specialised in necrophagous birds, has published both narrative and poetry, becoming recognised as a cult author. We will also have the chance to listen to the work of Ishion Hutchinson. This Jamaican poet, resident and teacher in the United States, has won a large number of awards despite having published only two collections, and is becoming one of the most outstanding young American poets of our times. Vasque singer and composer Miren Iza (Tulsa) and the Peruvian writer Gabriela Wiener will perform a show combining music and poetry.

Txema Martín and Enrique Juncosa are co-directors of this programme of activities.
