Excuse me, I’m speaking is an encyclopaedic approach to autobiographical comics by women, from the earliest female voices to recent activists. Showcasing the brush strokes of more than 70 women writers, the exhibition sheds light on the plurality of an ever-expanding genre, testament to the life of artists all over the world.

Through the language of the comic, the individual realities of these women can be understood beyond differences in their context and their contrasting styles. The examples chosen for the exhibition deal with topics as universal as health, family, working conditions, sexual identity, social differences, xenophobia, and friendship. The selected authors were invited to display the materials they felt best represented them as individuals and to narrate their creative experience in their own words.
